In response to N95 mask shortages in healthcare settings,Tomi Environmental Solutions--the manufacturer of SteraMist--has submitted an application to the FDA for emergency use authorization of SteraMist to disinfect masks for reuse.

In a latest study published in "Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, August, 2020, SteraMist was tested on four 3D-printed materials for use in healthcare, including a surgical mask designed by the Veterans Health Administration. The study showed that all viruses including SARS-CoV-2 and HIV-1 were completely inactivated by a single application of iHP without affecting material integrity.
